Buy some bones! Roasting beef bones intensifies the flavor and deep brown color of beef broth. The broth takes 3 to 4 hours to simmer, but the V-8 soup takes about 5 minutes to prepare!
There is no comparison to soups made with home made broth. I love simmering a big pot on cool weekends. Inexpensive beef bones are roasted to add a rich color and flavor to this broth. This soup reminded me of the canned vegetable soup we all grew up with – only better! Once you have your broth made, it can easily be frozen.
